A number of times I have tried to find quick information about
concert venues in Seattle. With, however, no avail. So I put together my
own compilation. I hope this information is helpful.

1. The Showbox -- 1426 1st
Ave, Seattle, WA -- (206) 628-3151
Description -- by far my favorite venue. A small place near the
market.
Advantages -- Small enough that it is easy to get close to the
stage, but large enough to attract popular artists. Even from the very
back or the bar, one has an excellent view. And if one is at the very
front, one is standing at the artist's feet.
Disadvantages -- as with any small venue, it can get very
loud sometimes. Bring earplugs.
2. The Gorge
Amphitheatre -- 754 Silica Road N.W., George, WA 98848 -- 206.628.0888
Description -- A giant amphitheatre in the middle of farm fields
with amazing views of the Columbia River Gorge.
Advantages -- Possibly one of the greatest venues in America.
Incredible views, good sound, and the bands are always excited to be
there.
Disadvantages -- If you live in Seattle, or just about
anywhere, it is always a day trip as it is quite far from anything. There
are not any good places to spend the night near by and sometimes it can
take a while to exit the parking lot.
3. The
Paramount Theatre -- 911 Pine Street, Seattle, WA 98101-- 206.467.5510
Description -- The best medium sized venue in Seattle. A typical
ornate theatre that also hosts plays and musicals.
Advantages -- They can take the seats out for concerts and it
usually isn't too difficult to get right in the front. It is decorated
very beautifully and is easy to get to with public transportation.
Disadvantages -- the vibe of the concert can be dampened if
they leave in the seats.
4. The Moore
Theatre -- 925 E Pike St, Seattle, WA -- (206) 709-9467
Description -- very similar to the Paramount, but smaller.
Advantages -- Smaller and more intimate than the Paramount
Disadvantages -- the seats are permanent, however the aisles
and the gap between the stage and seats are large so frequently shows are
general admission and one can stand anywhere among the seats.
5. Neumos --
1932 Second Avenue, Seattle, WA 98121 -- 206.467.5510
Description -- the smallest venue on the list. Has a great bar and
sort of a club feel.
Advantages -- If your favorite band is playing here, it can't get
any better. If you want just a fine night on the town with some live
music, also a fin place to go.
Disadvantages -- can sometimes be too small and loud.
6. Key Arena
-- Seattle Center, Seattle, WA -- (206)684-7209
Description -- the main arena venue in Seattle
Advantages -- attracts the biggest bands and very easy to get to.
Disadvantages -- can be disappointing if you are in the
balcony, very big, often expensive.
7.
White River
Amphitheatre -- 40601 Auburn Enumclaw Road Auburn, WA 98092 -- (360)
825-6200
Description -- the newest venue in Western Washington.
Advantages -- if you can get a ticket for the small pit in front
you may as well be at a small club. It is a beautiful place and well laid
out.
Disadvantages -- the traffic to and from is horrendous. It
almost takes longer than the gorge even though it isn't nearly as far.
Definitely get there early, carpool, and pay for the premier parking.
8. Tacoma Dome
-- 2727 East D Street / Tacoma, WA 98421 -- 253.272.3663
Description -- a multipurpose dome in the middle of Tacoma
Advantages -- also attracts the biggest bands
Disadvantages -- sterile and impersonal. Can be difficult to
get to.
